As Network Engineer in the Cloud Computing team, you are an important contributor, ensuring that the Telstra network delivers a superior network experience for our consumer and business customers. You use your telecommunications network skills and experience to contribute to specialist analysis, design, development and deployment in specific network technology domains, including how this technology inter-operates with other technologies.
Key responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the strategy, development, and implementation of Telco Cloud, collaborating with key vendors and internal Telstra customer teams.
  • Collaborate and influence our key customers, the 4G, 5G and Core network teams.
  • Contribute and demonstrate a 'one team' mindset. If our customers are successful, then we are successful.
  • Optimise efficiencies as fast time to market is of paramount importance in the Mobiles market.
  • Contribute towards improving existing processes, should they undermine our time to market.
  • Contribute towards the development of new technologies
  • Manage Telco Cloud’s broader Data Strategy by ensuring key metrics are collated, stored, and analysed so they can be used for performance management, capacity management and automated reporting using Splunk
  • Manage Data Analysis
  • Collaborate with Mobile Network peers and key vendors, to define optimal designs, architectures and set multi-year strategies.
About you, to be successful in the role, you’ll bring skills and experience: -
Essential requirements:
  • Experience with Programming (preferably Python)
  • DevOps
  • A demonstrated interest in Cloud technology
  • Stakeholder management experience
  • Ability to assist operational support staff as needed for problem investigation.
  • Awareness of cyber security concepts in designing and implementing security enhancements to protect the NFVi, routers and Mobile Network.
  • Good influencing and stakeholder management skills working with virtual stakeholders and teams.
  • Ability to work at a pace dictated by market drivers.
  • Demonstrated success in challenging internal processes that negatively impact time to market.
  • Experience working with data – either data engineering, working with databases, analysis
Desirable requirements:
  • Experience managing or deploying cloud
  • Basic IP Networking knowledge.
  • Basic Software Defined Networking and Software Defined Storage knowledge
  • An understanding of Mobile network functions and architectures for 4G and 5G.
  • General exposure to technology such as Openstack based Clouds, Linux, Virtual Machines and Containers.
  • Ansible
  • Implementing CI/CD pipelines
  • Splunk
  • Data Analysis and ML.
